LAFAYETTE, La. – Audrey Pickett tossed a complete-game one-hitter and Katelin Cooper walked it off with an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh as Louisiana Tech defeated Central Connecticut State 3-2 in the first game of the day of the LSU Crossover Tournament.

Tech (12-7) fell 8-0 to No. 21 UL-Lafayette in the nightcap.

Pickett (8-2) was throwing a no-hitter through 5 2/3 innings when a wild pitch on a strikeout swinging kept the top of the sixth inning alive. The next batter for the Blue Devils hit a two-run home run – the only hit of the game – to tie the contest at 2-2.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, freshman Sierra Sacco reached first on an error by the Blue Devil's first baseman. Cooper followed with a frozen rope double to left centerfield, scoring Sacco with the game-winning run.

Pickett allowed two runs on just one hit and one walk while striking out four batters. She needed only 69 pitches to complete the seven-inning victory.

Cooper led Tech with two hits and an RBI while Sacco scored all three runs. Brooke Diaz had two RBI with a RBI single and a sacrifice fly.

In the second game of the day, Tech failed to capitalize on a number of early scoring opportunities and UL-Lafayette broke open a close game late to pull out the 8-0 run-rule victory at Lamson Park.

Tech had the bases loaded and one out in the second and runners on second and third with one out in the fourth, but both times were unable to push any across as UL-Lafayette kept its 2-0 lead.

The Ragin Cajuns (12-3) then plated three runs in the fifth on a two-out bases clearing double and ended the game with two more runs in the sixth with the final run crossing the plate on a bases loaded walk.

Katelin Cooper and Madie Green each recorded doubles in the contest.

Tech returns to action in Baton Rouge Saturday with a 10:30 a.m. rematch with Central Connecticut State and a 3 p.m. game against Troy.
