RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech Director of Track and Field
Brian Johnson announced the 2022 Louisiana Tech men's and women's cross country schedule on Tuesday morning.
"I am super excited to have the first XC meet of the year", said Johnson. "Our student athletes have been working hard these last couple of weeks, and I know they ready to start competing again."
The Bulldogs and Lady Techsters open the season at ULM Saturday, Sep. 17 for the ULM Invitational held in Monroe, La.
LA Tech will then travel to Clinton, Miss. for the Watson Invitational on Saturday, Sep. 24, hosted by Mississippi College. Last season, the men's team posted a runner-up finish thanks to a personal-best by recent graduate Connor Killian, while the women's team posted a top-10 finish.
The men and women will conclude the 2022 regular season Friday, Oct. 14 at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Alabama Crimson Tide will play host to the season finale event.
The C-USA Championships will be held in Denton, Texas, on Saturday, Oct. 29. Last season in Charlotte, Middle Tennessee swept the 2021 Championships. The Blue Raiders women's team completed the three-peat defending their 2019 and 2020 titles.
On Aug. 30, Coach Johnson announced the hiring of
Jeanee Romero, an assistant coach in charge of running the men's and women's distance programs. Coach Romero comes to Tech after spending three seasons with UL-Louisiana.
"I am excited to be at Louisiana Tech and jump right into the swing of things," Romero said. Saturday will be a test to see exactly where we are, where we can improve as a whole, and what adjustments we need to make. We have a pretty young team, but have loads of potential. I am extremely thrilled to see that potential in action and the direction we are headed."
The Bulldog roster will feature a fresh new look with only two returners in
Joshua Raiford and
Trent Terminie. The two Marrero natives and Holy Cross grads, will lead the likes of
Jason Arena,
Tate Ashcraft,
Logan Bailey, and
Erik Rangel.
The Lady Techster roster welcomes back
Victoria Datta,
Jacquelin LaBerteaux,
Nariah Parks, and
Rebecca Quebedeaux. Newcomers to the 2022 women's roster include
Ali Looney,
Faith Tarver, and
Lexa Thompson.
The Bulldogs were picked seventh in the Conference USA preseason polls, while the Lady Techsters were selected 11
th.
The NCAA Regionals are scheduled for Nov. 11 in Huntsville, Ala., with the National Championships held a week later in Stillwater, Okla.
