CLINTON, Miss. – The Louisiana Tech men's and women's cross country teams continued their 2022 seasons today at the Watson Classic in Clinton, Miss., hosted by Mississippi College, with the Lady Techsters claiming a top-three finish while the Bulldogs placed ninth.
In the men's 8K, LA Tech was led for the second week in a row by
Erik Rangel, with a time of 28:51 placing him just outside the top 50 individually.
Logan Bailey finished just 20 seconds behind at 29:11.
As a team, the Bulldogs claimed an average time of 31:16 and finished with 192 points placing them inside the top 10.
Joshua Raiford finished third on the team with a 32:02 time, followed by
Jason Arena (33:08) and
Hayes Gill (33:08).
Tate Ashcraft rounded out Tech's entries with a time of 40:30.
Alabama-Huntsville, host Mississippi College, and Jackson State earned the men's top-three places.
In the women's 6K that followed, the Lady Techsters placed third behind host Mississippi College and Alabama-Huntsville, who completed the program sweep of the Classic.
The Techsters' 97 points were led by
Rebecca Quebedeaux's top-25 individual finish, with a time of 25:18.
Jacquelin LaBerteaux's 25:34 was good for 28th while
Victoria Datta finished just under the 26-minute mark (25:59), placing 34th overall.
Lexa Thompson (26:31) and
Ali Looney (27:26) rounded out the team finishing in the top half of the field.
