Lady Techsters Drop Road Contest to Arkansas

Box Score Fayetteville, Ark. – The Lady Techsters fell to a hot-shooting Arkansas team 100-60 Thursday night in Bud Walton Arena.

Arkansas (8-2) connected on four of their first five shots to gain an early 10-0 lead. LA Tech (2-7) finally got on the board with a three-pointer by Kate Thompson. The Lady Techsters were able to stay close the rest of the quarter, but a three by Samara Spencer gave the Razorbacks a 15-point lead after one.

After shooting 59 percent in the first quarter, Arkansas raised it by shooting 63 percent in the second.

The Lady Techsters looked to be building momentum to start the second half, outscoring Arkansas 17-9 and cutting the lead down to 61-41 at the mid-way point of the quarter. Jianna Morris, Anna Larr Roberson, and Robyn Lee combined for 14 Lady Techsters points during that stretch.

Arkansas would use a timeout to stop the run and finish the quarter on a 16-0 run. The Razorbacks added six more to start the fourth. The two teams would trade points the rest of the way.

Lee finished with 15 points to lead the Lady Techsters. Salma Bates was the other Tech player in double figures with 11.

QUOTABLES

Head coach Brooke Stoehr
"They were excellent offensively tonight. I didn't like our defense during segments of the game. Our defense was a lot more energetic to start the second half. They're a prolific three-point shooting team. Everybody in their starting five shoots the three, and they want to get to the rim and get to the free-throw line. We didn't do a very good job of containing the drives early."

"We had some good ball movement and rhythm shots that didn't go down. That's been frustrating for this group. We have a quick turnaround to Saturday and wanted to make sure that we saved some legs, got everybody some minutes, and tried to get better at some things as well."

NOTABLES
  • The Lady Techsters forced Arkansas into 11 turnovers, making it eight straight games. They have forced an opponent into 10+ turnovers this season.
