Sant Earns Winter Spirit of Service Award

RUSTON | Louisiana Tech junior Lotte Sant was one of 11 student-athletes to earn the Conference USA Winter Spirit of Service Award, as announced by the league office on Thursday.

The award honors student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing, and participation in their respective sport.

The LA Tech Women's Basketball team guard appeared in all 32 games during the 2022-23 season while making 11 starts.  She shot .395 from the field during her junior campaign, including .393 from three. During conference play, she hit 43-91 from the three-point range (.473) and hit at least three threes on nine occasions.

The native of Amsterdam finished the season with 55 made threes, good for No. 10 on the all-time single-season list and No. 6 on the all-time career made threes list with 142 while helping the Lady Techsters reach their second postseason WNIT berth in as many years.

In the classroom, Sant is a three-time C-USA Academic Medalist and C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient.  She was also named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team.

She has a cumulative grade point average of 3.894, having recorded seven 4.0 quarters while being an 11-time Dean's List honoree and 11-time AD Honor Roll recipient.

Sant has also logged several hours of community service, including projects with projects and organizations with Buddy Ball, SAAC Trunk or Treat, Dogs with a Cause at Ruston Elementary, Special Olympics of Ruston, and the LTAC Thank-a-Thon.

The Spirit of Service Award is presented three times throughout the season, with Thursday's honor representing the winter sports (track and field and basketball).  Recipients are nominated by their institutions.
