ONEONTA, Ala. – Sophomore
Peyton Johnson was the story of the day for Louisiana Tech, shooting 70 (-2) in round two of the GMAC Invitational at the Limestone Springs Golf Club.
Â
Johnson carried over his momentum from Sunday's round one, carding a 34 on the front nine with a trio of birdies on No. 2, No. 3, and No. 7. He backed that up with a 36 on the back nine just like the day before to finish in the red for the first time this fall.Â
Â
The 70 marked the second lowest round for the Shreveport native behind only his 69 at last season's home event. The under-par round moved him almost 30 spots in the individual standings, now tied for 45th and the lead Bulldog going into the final round.
Â
Riley Hnatyshyn, who shot a team-best 73 in round one, shot a 78 (+6) to put the sophomore in a tie for 66th. Freshman
Gray Kingrea shot 80 (+8), a number that was primarily the result of a tough No. 3. Lastly, redshirt sophomore
Joel Thomas Stephens carded an 81 (+9). Â Â Â
