RUSTON – Louisiana Tech's A'riel Williams was named Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Female Freshman of the Week, announced by the league on Tuesday.
 
The Lake Charles native jumped a program record 1.78m (5'10'') in the high jump at the Arkansas Invitational on Friday. 
 
She would finish tied for the highest jump of the meet, but she would finish in second due to the tiebreaker. The jump is tied for 28th in the nation, No. 1 in CUSA and fourth among freshmen after the first two weeks of the indoor season.
