RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech Golf team looks to build on its recent top-5 finish as the Bulldogs continue the fall portion of their schedule by participating in the Trinity Forest Invitational, hosted by SMU.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH
LA Tech set a new 54-hole record of 841, breaking the previous record by four strokes, as they came in fifth at the GMAC Invitational, hosted by UAB in Oneonta, Alabama.
 
Also setting a program record was sophomore Niilo Maki-Petaja who finished with a 54-hole total of 202 (-14) at the Limestone Springs Golf Club, tying the Bulldog record that was set back in 2017.  He ended up tying for second at the event, marking his fifth top-5 finish over his last 10 events.
 
Fellow sophomore Jake Plumb registered his second career top-20 finish, tying for 14th as an individual after shooting a career best 54-hole score of 211 (-5).  The Bulldog shot under par in all three rounds including a 71 (-1) to finish up the invitational.
 
The third Bulldog to finish in the top 20 was freshman Morton Bailey who tied for 18th in just his second event at LA Tech, highlighted by a 69 (-3) in round two.  Fellow freshman Freddie Surgey rebounded from two rounds over par to shoot a season-low 69 (-3) in round three. 
 
All four Bulldogs will be in action at the Trinity Forest Invitational along with sophomore Oskari Schuvalow who played as an individual at the GMAC Invitational.  Two of six rounds as a Bulldog this season have been at or under par.      
 
LA Tech last participated in the Trinity Forest Invitational back in 2022.
