ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (2-0)
Louisiana Tech brushed off a slow start to pull away from South Alabama, 78-70, on Thursday for a second consecutive Education Day. Jianna Morris led the way with 20 points, with Robyn Lee and Jordan Marshal with double-digit scoring outputs.
Morris has taken on a more significant role on the offensive side of the floor. The sophomore has increased her scoring to 19.5 ppg on a 53.3 shooting percentage, doubling her output from her freshman season.
After a low output by Lee to open the season, she broke out with 18 points against the Jaguars. The grad student has grabbed an average of five boards and dished out two assists per contest.
Marshal started the season with nearly a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds against Nicholls. She followed that up with a 13-point and seven-rebound performance against South Alabama. Her 25 points are the most by a freshman in her first two games since Amaya Brannon scored 25 during the 2021-22 season.
ABOUT UT-ARLINGTON (1-1)
UT Arlington is coming off a 105-35 against Arlington Baptist after dropping their season opener to Arizona 73-54. Avery Brittingham led the Mavericks with a triple-double with 11 points, 10 boards, and 10 assists.
Brittingham is third on the team with 10.0 ppg and leads the UTA with 7.5 boards and 6.0 assists per contest. She finished last season with 13.1 ppg, 8.4 rpg, and 3.9 apg.
Koi Love leads the Mavericks in scoring with a 20.5 average after scoring 20 and 21 points in the first two games. The fifth-year senior has spent time at Vanderbilt, where she was an SEC All-Freshman, before spending a season at Arizona and two seasons at USC.
Taliyah Clark is another threat for the Mavericks. Clark scored 19 points in the win over Arlington Baptist after being the third-leading scorer with 12.3 ppg a season ago.
UTA finished last season 17-16 and is under the direction of Shereka Wright in her fifth season.
