Blay Named Honorable Mention All-American by Phil Steele

David Blay Becomes Third Bulldog Under Cumbie to Receive All-American Honors

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech defensive tackle David Blay has received All-America recognition, earning a spot on the Phil Steele All-American Honorable Mention Team, announced by the outlet on Tuesday.

Blay, who was named an All-CUSA First Team performer and a First Team All-CUSA Phil Steele selection, continues to receive national recognition after leading the Bulldog defensive front in several categories. The Pennsylvania native registered 46 tackles and led the team with 10.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks, while ranking third in CUSA in both categories.

The redshirt junior collected at least a half tackle for loss in 10 games. He notched a season-high six stops against Tulsa, UTEP, Jax State and Kennesaw. Blay finished with five tackles, two TFLs and a sack versus Arkansas, while collecting a sack in five of the final six games.

Blay becomes the third player during head coach Sonny Cumbie's tenure to earn All-American, joining running back Marquis Crosby (2022) and defensive back Michael Richard (2023).
