Bulldogs Rewrite Record Books in Wins Over Lindenwood and ULM

Monroe, La. – The Louisiana Tech Softball team continued its dominance with a 28-2 win over Lindenwood and a 10-4 win over ULM on the final day of the Warhawk Invitational to improve to 6-0 on the season.

LA Tech set new Conference USA records with 26 RBI and 20 walks in the win over Lindenwood. The Bulldogs' 26 RBI and 20 walks were both program records while their 28 runs ranked second in school history. The school record for runs in a game is 30 which was set during a 30-0 win over Jackson State on Feb. 6, 2004. The 20 walks in a single game are the fifth-most in NCAA history and most by a team since 2020.

In game one, The Bulldogs jumped on the Lions (2-7) with 14 runs in the first inning courtesy of a three-run home run by Kylie Neel, five hits and 10 walks. Neel went 1-2 in the contest and drove in four runs. Freshman Karli Sellers led Tech with 5 RBI in the win and four runs scored. She went 1-3 at the plate with three walks. Sophomores Alannah Rogers (2-3, 3 RBI, 3 R, 3 BB) and Kaylee Grealy (2-4, 3 RBI, 1 R) led the Bulldogs with two hits each. All 15 active position players saw action in the contest with 14 reaching base.

Lauren Menzina picked up the win in relief, throwing two no-hit innings with two strikeouts and one walk. Freshman Mattison Buster made her first career start and pitched effectively (2 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 1 BB) and Emma Hutchinson threw a perfect inning in relief of Menzina while striking out two in the games final frame.

Lindenwood's Hannah Johanning took the loss, allowing 21 runs, 16 walks and eight hits in 1.1 innings pitched.

Louisiana Tech then used that momentum to wallop ULM, 10-4, giving the Bulldogs a win at the Warhawks (7-4) home field for the second straight day.

Nicole Hammoude led the way at the plate, going 2-4 with two doubles and a career-high five RBI. Aubree Seaney (1-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 R), and Claire Raley (2-5, 1 HR, 2 R, 1 RBI) both homered for the second-consecutive day. Caroline Easom led Tech in the hits category with a 3-4 effort that featured two doubles, a run scored and a walk. Easom was the Warhawks' worst nightmare this weekend as she batted .875 (7-8) against ULM. Five Bulldogs recorded multiple hits in the contest as Alexis Gilio (2-2, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB) and Kylie Neel (2-4, 2 R, 1 BB) also accomplished the feat.

Allie Floyd was great as usual while improving to 2-0 on the season. Floyd utilized her defense, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out one. Brook Melnychuk escaped a one-out bases-loaded jam in the sixth while throwing the final 1.2 innings in relief and allowing just one run.

On the weekend Louisiana Tech outscored its opponents 51-8. Through six games this season, the Bulldogs have outscored opponents 59-10 with 59 hits, 17 doubles and five home runs.

The 6-0 start by Louisiana Tech is the best since 2019 when the eventual Conference USA Champions and NCAA Regional participant won its first eight games.

NOTABLES
- The Bulldogs' 20 walks in the 28-2 win over Lindenwood were a Conference USA and program record. The 20 walks are tied for the fifth-most in a single game in NCAA history and were the most by an NCAA Division I program since Northwestern State registered 22 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Feb. 15, 2020.
- In addition to setting the CUSA record for walks, the Bulldogs set a new league record for RBI (26).The 26 RBI were also a program record, eclipsing the previous mark of 23 which was set in a 30-0 win over Jackson State on Feb. 6, 2004.
- The previous CUSA record for walks was 16 which was held by three different programs.
- The 28 runs in the win against Lindenwood were the second most in program history. The school record for runs in a game is 30 which was set on Feb. 6, 2004 in a 30-0 win over Jackson State in Starkville, Miss.
- The Bulldogs 28 runs are the most by a current Conference USA member.
- It marked the first time scoring 20 or more runs since a 26-0 win against Grambling State on March 23, 2016. The 26-run margin of victory also the largest since that date.
- The 26 RBI by Tech in the Lindenwood victory is just outside the Top-20 for a single game in NCAA history. 27 RBI in a single contest is the 20th-most in NCAA history.

- The 14 runs in the first inning against Lindenwood is also believed to be a school record. Game-by-game box scores are incomplete prior to the 1999 season but Louisiana Tech had only eclipsed the 14-run mark five times in a single game prior to 1999.
- Madison Buster made her first collegiate appearance in the circle and Karolyn Glover recorded her first collegiate hit.
- Karli Sellers and Alannah Rogers both drew three walks against Lindenwood, the most by a LA Tech player since Kylie Neel walked three times against Charlotte on April 4, 2023.

- The Bulldogs have now posted double digit runs in back-to-back games for the first time since Feb. 13, 2022 when they accomplished the feat in wins over Mississippi Valley State (10-0) and Southern (16-5).

QUOTABLES
"Our offense really came into our own. Our discipline and our approach was a lot better today. We also pitched well all day as well and that equals the outcome that we got today. I am excited for our players and how they are progressing through the beginning of this season to develop our approach and our plan as we go up to the plate. I think we have built more confidence as we move forward this season." – Head Coach Josh Taylor

Allie Floyd made her second start of the year and wasted no time disposing of the Warhawks as she issued three consecutive flyouts to end the first.

Caroline Easom had a single that fell in center field for the Bulldogs' lone second-inning hit. Floyd made it six straight ULM batters retired with a 1-2-3 second.

In the third inning, Gilio added her second hit of the day with an infield single to shortstop. Kylie Neel followed with a single up the middle before Nicole Hammoude doubled into the left-center field gap to score both and give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead.

The Warhawks threatened in the home half. Jace Buck reached on a walk but was doubled up on an infield pop-up to Claire Raley for the first two outs of the frame. Lourdes Bacon singled with two outs and swiftly stole second to put a runner in scoring position before Floyd got Carys Platt to strike out swinging to end the inning.

Easom reached base for the second time by working a full count and drawing a walk to lead off the fourth. Olivia Ellingson pinch-ran for Easom and advanced to second and third on wild pitches. Karli Sellers reached on an error by the Warhawks' first baseman. Tech went up 3-0 courtesy of Brooke Diaz hitting a spinning ground ball between the first and second baseman to score Ellingson. Gilio made it 4-0 with a sacrifice fly that brought home Sellers. Neel followed with a walk, and Nicole Hammoude smashed a bases-clearing double in the left-center field gap to extend the lead to seven.
