The Bulldogs' (20-5) victory was their first over the Ragin' Cajuns since April 25, 1998, snapping a 31-game ULL winning streak in the series.
After falling behind 3-0 through two and a half innings,

Kylie Neel on first and Katelin Cooper on second, Rogers sent an 0-1 pitch from Ragin' Cajun ace Sam Landry over the right-center field wall to tie the game at 3-3. The three-run round-tripper was Rogers' first collegiate home run. Later in the inning
Claire Raley scored on a throwing error to put the Bulldogs ahead 4-3. Rogers later provided insurance with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it the final, 5-3.
Rogers led the Bulldogs' offense by going 2-4 with a three-run home run, a single, and a career-high four RBI. Raley (1-3, 1 R) and

Landry (4 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 2 K) took the loss for the Ragin' Cajuns (18-13) who entered the matchup on a nine-game winning streak and previously snapped Oklahoma's 71-game winning streak with a 7-5 win (8 inn.) over the Sooners on March 3.

QUOTABLES
On the game…
"I liked our battle tonight. We were down 3-0 and the message was really simple. Stop complicating it. Your pitchers have been picking you up all year. Now it is time for us to pick up our pitchers. Then we found a way to tack on some more runs. The offense responded. It did not show in the hit column necessarily… We had a lot of quality at-bats tonight that may not have resulted in hits but we had productive at-bats and hit the ball hard … You look at the way we competed. We made mistakes early but cleaned those up and starting making plays and got momentum with the home run which kind of snowballed for us. I am proud of the way our kids fought and competed." - head coach
Josh Taylor
On the magnitude of the win…
"It is big in terms of the fact that we had not beat them since 1998. It is a big win for us especially with how we played on Sunday. To come back and beat a team that is receiving votes and beat the No. 1 team in the nation in Oklahoma earlier this year, nothing but confidence can come out of it. Our hitters especially learned that they can square balls up and get on time. I hope this carries into the weekend into the WKU series." – head coach
Josh Taylor
On her home run…
"During that at-bat I was not fearful at all. I gave all the glory to god because I knew he was going to be with me and whatever was supposed to happen was going to be his plan. I just went up there being loose and having fun with the goal of doing anything to get a run across for our team." –
Alannah Rogers
On her confidence and performance tonight…
"The defense more than anything gives me a lot of confidence.
Brooke Diaz behind the plate was immaculate tonight. Trusting the defense was the main key thing that kept me calm and kept me grounded in tough situations tonight" –
Lauren Menzina
HOW IT HAPPENED
Allie Floyd made her eighth start of the season for LA Tech, while the Ragin' Cajuns went with their ace, Sam Landry.
Floyd got Mihyia Davis to ground out to her to start the ballgame. Maddie Hayden reached on an error and advanced to second on a Laney Credeur single up the middle. Floyd then got Sam Roe to strike out swinging for the second out of the frame. Both runners read the third strike in the dirt and attempted to take third and second base.
Brooke Diaz turned to throw the runner out at third, but Roe stepped in her way. As a result, the umpires initially called the baserunner out at third but later reversed their decision after an argument from UL-Lafayette Head Coach Gerry Glasco and sent the runners back to first and second. ULL then plated a run one batter later, courtesy of the Bulldogs' second error of the inning, to take a 1-0 lead.
Tech was retired in order in the bottom of the first.
With one out in the top of the second, Victoria Valdez hit a solo home run to left field to increase the visitors lead to 2-0.
Aubree Seaney and
Nicole Hammoude both hit balls hard in the bottom of the second but right at the Ragin' Cajuns second baseman and center fielder as Landry sat Tech down in order.
In the top of the third, Falterman led off the inning by singling through the right side and would later come around to score on a two-out RBI single by Alexa Langeliers.
Kylie Neel led off the bottom of the third with a walk and would advance to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Brooke Diaz. Katelin Cooper drew a one-out walk to put runners on first and second.
Alannah Rogers then stepped to the plate and drove an 0-1 pitch over the right-center field wall to tie the game at 3-3. The three-run home run was Rogers' first career round-tripper.
Claire Raley followed with an infield single and advanced to second on a fielder's choice by
Alexis Gilio.
Caroline Easom then grounded into a fielder's choice that Raley advanced to third on and then came around to score on a throwing error by ULL shortstop Cecilia Vasquez to give the Dogs a 4-3 lead.
Lauren Menzina relieved Floyd in the fourth inning and kept the Cajuns off the board. A bunt single by Davis was the only hit Menzina would yield in the frame.
The Bulldogs added an insurance run in the home half.
Brooke Diaz singled with one out in the inning and then advanced to second on Cooper's second walk of the game.
Josh Taylor then pinch-ran
Jina Baffuto for Diaz at second. Taylor's move paid off as Rogers singled up the middle, and Baffuto raced home from second while using a textbook headfirst slide to evade the tag from ULL catcher Victoria Vasquez, increasing the LA Tech lead to 5-3.
ULL ace Sam Landry was pulled from the game after the fourth inning. Left-hander Chloe Riasetto would pitch the final two innings in relief of Landry.
Both teams were retired in order in the fifth inning. LA Tech center fielder
Alexis Gilio made an incredible over the shoulder grab at the wall to end the top of the fifth.
UL-Lafayette threatened with back-to-back two-out singles in the sixth. With runners on second and third and two outs,
Brook Melnychuk entered the game in relief of Menzina and got Hayden to ground out to
Claire Raley at third base for the final out of the inning. The Bulldogs went down in order in the bottom of the sixth.
Melnychuk returned to the circle in the seventh and quickly retired the first two batters, courtesy of a lineout and groundout to Raley at third. Brooke Ellestad then singled to left field, bringing the tying run to the plate in Alexa Langeliers. Melnychuk got Langeliers to ground out to
Caroline Easom at second base for the game's final out as she earned her second save of the season, and Tech improved to 20-5.
