WACO, Texas — The Louisiana Tech track and field teams picked up three more PRs and five top 10 finishes on the final day of the Michael Johnson Invitational at the Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium on Saturday.
A'reil Williams was the first Bulldogs to crack the top 10 on Saturday. The freshman claimed her seventh top-five of the season with a height of 1.63m (5'4.25'') in the high jump to tie for fourth.
The women's 100m hurdles was the first event on the track, and all three Bulldog athletes recorded a top-10 finish. Nike Praetzel, Tonie-Ann Forbes, and Kionnah Weaver took to the line in the first heat and ran 13.80, 13.82, and 14.06, respectively. Praetzel finished sixth, Forbes followed in seventh, and Weaver recorded a 10th-place finish.
The duo of Rodney Heath Jr. and Julian Forde continue to be one of the top pairs in the country for the 100m. Heath Jr. scored another top-five finish with a 10.26 to claim fourth. Forde just missed the top 10 at 11th but closed with a time of 10.50.
Urijah Williams, Nia Wiley, and Praise Ofoku set PRs in their events. Williams ran a 14.63 in the 100m hurdles, Wiley clocked 56.83 in the 400m, and Ofoku recorded 12.16 in the 100m.
UP NEXT
LA Tech will travel to Monroe for the final regular-season track meet on April 26-27. The Bulldogs will compete in the Warhawk Classic at Brown Stadium.
