RUSTON — Louisiana Tech offensive lineman
Brett Canis was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team on Friday, becoming one of 11 players across the league to earn the honor.
Canis, a fourth-year lineman from Midland, Texas, has appeared in all 10 games this season with four starts at right tackle. He helped an offensive front that blocked for one of the most productive rushing performances in program history during the Tech's win over Sam Houston. The Bulldogs racked up 425 rushing yards, the third-most in school history and the most since 1991, while scoring six touchdowns on the ground, its highest total since 2015.
On the season, Canis has helped pave the way for three 100-yard rushers and two games of more than 350 rushing yards. He has appeared in 32 career games at LA Tech, making seven starts.
Off the field, Canis earned his bachelor's degree in supply chain management and holds a 4.0 GPA in LA Tech's data analytics graduate program. He is a three-time selection to the CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll (2022, 2023 and 2025).
Canis is the first LA Tech player since 2023 to earn a spot on the league's all-academic team.
