Louisiana Tech outpaced Stephen F. Austin 93-66 for the third straight victory of the season.

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech outpaced Stephen F. Austin 93-66 for the third straight victory of the season.

The Lady Techsters jumped out fast behind a 6-0 run, forcing an early Ladyjack timeout with only 2:30 minutes of gametime. Three layups and three assists with three different scorers  established a theme for Louisiana Tech throughout the game. Both teams would trade runs for the rest of the quarter, ending with a Jordan Marhsall layup to give LA Tech the lead 17-13 entering the second. Hillary Dawson and Marshall tied with six points in the quarter for the scoring title and Alexia Weaver was masterful distributing the ball, handing out four assists.

Louisiana Tech wasted no time extending the lead, scoring the first 12 points of the quarter. Joy Madison-Key made an impact with four points and a steal during the run. LA Tech would lead 33-17 at the media timeout after a Jianna Morris threeball would force another SFA timeout. The lead would stay at 16 closing the half with a Lady Techsters lead, 42-26. Eight Lady Techsters scored in the quarter, with Morris leading the way with six behind two three pointers. Jordan Marshall made her paint presence known with six rebounds in the frame.

LA Tech continued the theme of starting the quarter strong, going on a 13-5 run to force a quick SFA timeout. The lead ballooned as high as 24, but the Ladyjacks fought back in the third quarter, scoring a game high 26 points. SFA would close the lead back to 15 after two Harmanie Dominguez free throws as time expired. Paris Bradley was perfect from the field, shooting 4-4 in the quarter, scoring nine points. Alexia Weaver was also perfect, adding seven on 3-3 shooting. Marshall secured her double-double with a rebound, giving her 12 points and 10 rebounds in the game.

The fourth quarter was all Lady Techsters, outscoring the Ladyjacks 26-14 and extending the lead to a game high 27 with four minutes to play. QUOTABLES
Head coach Brooke Stoehr
We came out with a good mindset and we attacked on both ends of the floor. Our defense gave us the momentum and our attacking mindset gave us some easy baskets in transition. Outside of those five minutes in the third quarter I loved our energy, communication and attention to all the little things. This is what we know what this group is capable of and it is what we expect every day, it is our standard. We have to be resilient and tenacious on the defensive end of the floor if we want to compete for a championship, and I think we did a great job defensively. We have great depth and it allows us to have options for the gameplan and how we want to have the other team guard us. It is a busy time of the year and our students are out on quarter break. I cannot thank our spirit squads and the band members that showed up for our team today. Our crowd got into it and gave us a boost. We are grateful for this community and know they will continue to show up for this group.
