ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (0-1)
Louisiana Tech opened the 2025-26 season with an offensive shootout at Bud Walton Arena against Arkansas. The game finished with a combined 174 points — the highest total since Feb. 9, 2019, when LA Tech beat Southern Miss 106-85 in Ruston. The Lady Techsters jumped out to a quick 17-2 lead behind
Jianna Morris' long-range shooting and
Paris Bradley's efficient scoring. Arkansas answered with an 11-0 run to start the second quarter and slipped ahead 41-40 at halftime. The teams traded runs throughout the second half, including a
Jordan Marshall basket that tied it at 70-all with 6:10 to play. From there, the Razorbacks closed on a 23-11 run to seal a 93-81 win.
Â
Morris was lethal from deep, hitting five 3-pointers to match her career high and setting a new mark with 10 attempts. She scored 19 points overall.
Â
Marshall delivered a strong performance as well, finishing with 20 points — her second career 20-point game and 24th in double figures. She also tied for the team lead with six rebounds, marking the 28th time she's grabbed at least six boards.
Â
Joy Madison-Key provided a spark off the bench in her Lady Techsters debut. The redshirt sophomore set career highs in four categories: 13 points, six field goals made, 11 attempts and six rebounds.
Â
Four Techsters scored in double figures: Marshall (20), Morris (19), Bradley (16) and Madison-Key (13).
Averi Aaron, Marshall and Madison-Key shared the rebounding lead with six apiece.
Â
ABOUT ULM (1-0)
ULM opened the Scotty Fletcher era with a win, knocking off Eastern Michigan 80-71. The Warhawks got a huge boost from their bench, which accounted for 40 points. ULM shot 48.4 percent from the field and went 15 of 20 at the free-throw line, including 9 of 10 in the fourth quarter, to put together an efficient performance against the Eagles. Fletcher's rotation ran deep, with eight players logging at least a dozen minutes. The Warhawks dominated the paint, outrebounding Eastern Michigan 37-29 and outscoring the Eagles in the paint 30-18.
Â
Four Warhawks scored in double figures, led by Nakiya Mays-Prince and Keshunti Nichols with 12 points apiece. Mays-Prince also dished out a team-high five assists, while Marcavia Shavers and Asjah Innis shared the rebounding lead with six each.
Â
ULM is coming off an 11-19 season, including a 7-11 mark in Sun Belt play. The Warhawks closed the 2024-25 campaign on a three-game skid and finished ninth in the league standings.
Â
THE SERIES
