FORT WORTH, Texas – Louisiana Tech quarterback
Trey Kukuk was named to the Davey O'Brien Award's Great 8 list for his Week 14 performance against Missouri State, announced by the organization on Monday.
Kukuk is joined by quarterbacks (Byrum Brown, USF), (Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss), (Josh Hoover, TCU), (Brad Jackson, Texas State), (Drew Mestemaker, North Texas), (Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, Cal) and (Julian Sayin, Ohio State).
The National QB of the Week will be announced Tuesday at 11 a.m. (CT).
Making his fourth start of the season, the junior signal-caller ran for 172 yards, the most ever by a LA Tech quarterback in a single game, marking his second 100-yard rushing performance of the season, while finding the end zone three times on the ground in the Bulldogs' 42-30 road win over Missouri State on Saturday.
Kukuk accounted for 259 total yards after completing 8 of 13 passes for 87 yards.
He sealed the win with a 58-yard touchdown run with 3:44 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The California native has seen action in 10 games, completing 57 of 86 passes for 526 yards and two scores, while adding 488 yards and five scores on the ground. Kukuk has registered two 100+ yard rushing performances this season.
Kukuk was named a Manning Star of the Week earlier on Monday.
