Jakari Foster Earns Walter Camp Second Team All-American Honors

Foster becomes fifth LA Tech defensive back named to an All-America first or second team in program history

RUSTON – The nation's leader in interceptions got the recognition he deserved Friday night, as Louisiana Tech safety Jakari Foster was named a Walter Camp Second Team All-American.

This is the 136th edition of the Walter Camp All-America team, the nation's oldest college football All-America team. Twenty-five players were selected to the first team by the 136 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. In addition, 27 players were selected to the Second Team.

Foster, a redshirt senior from Piedmont, Alabama, became the first FBS player to record seven interceptions in a season since 2022. After appearing in all 13 games last year as a backup, Foster excelled this season, starting all 12 games at safety and finishing with 54 tackles, seven interceptions, one touchdown, one forced fumble and four pass breakups.

His seven interceptions are tied for the third most in a single season in program history and the most by a Bulldog since 1997.

The second-year Bulldog posted a season-high 10 tackles against WKU and recorded two interceptions and eight tackles in the win over Liberty that helped Tech reach bowl eligibility. The sure-handed safety logged interceptions in six different games.

Foster is just the fifth defensive back in program history to earn first or second team All-America honors. He becomes the third this century, joining Bobby Gray (2001) and Amik Robertson (2019). He is the Bulldogs' first Walter Camp All-American since Jaylon Ferguson earned second-team honors in 2018.

Foster has played in 25 games during his two seasons in Ruston, and has recorded 87 tackles, eight interceptions, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one touchdown.

Following the 2025 season, Foster was named a second-team All-CUSA performer. He also earned CUSA Defensive Player of the Week honors after his two-interception performance against Liberty.

The Bulldogs are set to play in the Independence Bowl for the second consecutive season, facing Coastal Carolina on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 1 p.m. at Independence Stadium in Shreveport. Click here to purchase tickets to watch Foster and the Bulldogs face the Chanticleers.
