LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana Tech softball struggled to string together base hits on Wednesday evening at Lamson Park as the Bulldogs were outhit 7-3 in a 3-0 loss to UL-Lafayette. The loss moves LA Tech to 21-14 on the season.
The Bulldogs finished with three singles on the night, led by
Elena Heng with two, followed by
Nicole Hammoude who hit one.
Alannah Rogers also reached base in the game as she drew the team's lone walk.
Allie Floyd took the loss in the circle as the junior pitcher scattered six hits in 5.0 innings while allowing three runs.
Laney Johnson pitched the final frame and allowed one hit.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Heng led off the game with a single but was unable to advance past first base, which became the theme of the night for the Bulldogs as no runners advanced to second in the contest.
ULL took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third as Erin Ardoin drew a walk to start the inning and would come around to score on a sac fly. A groundout and single allowed Ardoin to get into scoring position.
The Ragin' Cajuns added two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Maddie Hayden singled and came around to score on a triple off the bat of Mia Liscano. Sam Roe made it 3-0 ULL as she singled to left field to score Liscano.
