LOS ANGELES – Louisiana Tech wide receiver
Tru Edwards has signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent.
The 6-3 wide receiver spent three seasons with the Bulldogs after one season at Hawaii and two at Navarro College.
Edwards had a breakout campaign last season as he hauled in 85 receptions for 989 yards and six touchdowns. He was the only player in CUSA to record 70+ receptions, while finishing second in the league in yards, and tied for fourth in touchdown grabs. He was named to the All-CUSA First Team, Phil Steele All-CUSA First Team, and College Football Network All-CUSA First Team.
The Shreveport native caught multiple passes in 12 games and had two games with multiple touchdown receptions. He grabbed a season-high 10 passes in the regular season finale versus Kennesaw (Nov. 30). Edwards registered four 100+ receiving games with a career-high 148 yards and a touchdown at NC State (Sept. 14). He hauled in six receptions for 127 yards and one score in the win over MTSU (Oct. 10). He tallied two touchdowns on nine receptions with 110 yards on the road at New Mexico State (Oct. 15). He finished with two touchdowns and 142 yards on six receptions versus Jax State (Nov. 9).
Edwards recorded 108 receptions, 1,273 yards and eight scores in three seasons as a Bulldog.
He is the son of Troy Edwards, former LA Tech wide receiver who was the 1998 Biletnikoff Award winner before embarking on a seven-year NFL career.
