RUSTON – Louisiana Tech softball added some international flair this week as head coach
Josh Taylor announced the signing of two new additions from the junior college level. Joining the Bulldogs for the upcoming season will be Ruby Fidge (Adelaide, Australia/Orange Coast College), and Rosalie Dufresne (Quebec, Canada/Tallahassee State College).
Ruby Fidge | RHP
Fidge comes to Ruston after spending the past two seasons at Orange Coast College in Mesa, California. Originally from Adelaide, Australia, the right-hander compiled an 18-11 record with 70 strikeouts in 190 innings of work across her two seasons with the Pirates. She appeared in 37 with 34 starts and carried a 2.80 ERA.
"I am looking forward to joining the LA tech softball program," exclaimed Fidge. "It has an outstanding reputation for developing players and after speaking with Coach Josh and his team, the culture they have created there is what attracted me most, they care for their athletes as people on and off the field and being so far away from home that's really important to me."
Fidge recorded a 6-5 record in 2025 while posting a 2.38 ERA in 76 innings. She tossed five complete games, all against top five teams in the league, and registered a 1.2 ERA in those outings.
In her first season at OCC, Fidge was named the Orange Coast College Freshman of the Year after logging a 12-6 record in the circle. She tallied 49 strikeouts and made 20 appearances with 18 starts, allowing 52 runs in 116.2 innings.
The Australia native has also gained experience by playing with the Under-18 Australian Team in 2022 and 2023. She returned home this past January to compete in the Australian Under-23 National Championships in Brisbane and the Open Women's National Softball Championships. She played club softball for the Sturt Falcons.
Rosalie Dufresne | C
Dufresne makes her way to Ruston after two standouts seasons at Tallahassee State College in Tallahassee, Florida.
"Coach Taylor gave me once in a lifetime opportunity and I am so grateful," stated Dufresne. "I will make the best out of it!!"
A catcher from Quebec, Canada, Dufresne was named to the All-Panhandle Second Team twice during her career as an Eagle. She played in 93 career games and registered 93 hits, 48 RBI, 55 runs, five home runs, while posting a .350 career batting average.
This past season, Dufresne played in 51 games and tallied 48 hits, including 16 doubles and two home runs. She recorded 27 RBIs and 30 runs scored while hitting .340 with just nine strikeouts in 141 at-bats. She registered 11 multi-hit games, including three three-hit performances. The Canadian logged 32 career extra base hits with 19 coming this past season.
She was named the Tallahassee State College 2025 athlete of the year, while also receiving the 2025 Jean Williams Award, which is presented annually to the top scholar-athlete in the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA). The Jean Williams Award is considered one of the highest individual honors in FCSAA athletics, recognizing outstanding academic achievement, athletic excellence, and exemplary citizenship. A sophomore majoring in Physical Therapy, Dufresne has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA while making significant contributions to the Eagle Softball program.
