RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech cross country teams wrapped up competition at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede in Lake Charles Saturday morning.
The women's collegiate 5k opened up Saturday's events at the Enos Derbonne Sports Complex. Sophomore DeLaney Lopez led LA Tech with a top-25 finish in her second-straight race, coming in at 23rd with a new collegiate 5k mark of 19:10.40.
Lexa Thompson followed after, shaving nearly 24 seconds off her previous 5k mark to finish 32nd.
Bailey Springer also shattered her previous best in the 5k by just under two minutes while
Katie Langford broke hers by more than two minutes.
Brayden Vining led the men's side for the second-straight meet and in just his second collegiate competition. He earned his second collegiate top-25 finish with a time of 21:02.65.
Dillon Sanchez set a new personal mark in the men's 4-mile race by nearly 17 seconds, finishing 33rd.
The Bulldogs have an off week before returning to competition on October 10 when they race in the Grambling Tiger XC Invite.
