RUSTON – Head coach Brooke Stoehr was named to the 2027 Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Watch List, presented by Her Hoop Stats, one of 20 coaches in the country.
Â
Stoehr enters her 11th season at the helm of the Lady Techsters and her first since rejoining the Sun Belt this upcoming season.
Â
Stoehr helped the Lady Techsters reach heights this past season that had not been reached in decades or never before. The teams 26-7 record was the most wins in a season in 22 years, winning the regular season CUSA title and earning a WBIT postseason bid. Louisiana Tech was also the first Conference USA team in history to win 17 straight conference games, ultimately winning 19 in a row heading into the tournament championship.
Â
During the Lady Techsters winning streak, they were dominant on both ends. They held 14 teams to 60 points or less, including a streak of seven in a row. LA Tech also scored over 70 points in 11 games, including a streak of six in a row. Louisiana Tech won by an average of 16.6 points (17.9 at home) and won by double-figures in 14 of the 19 games.
Â
Her leadership helped the team lead CUSA in offense (72.8 ppg) and defense (58.5 ppg), as well as leading in assists per game (15.9) and field goal percentage (44.3). The Lady Techsters were one of only 10 teams in the country to go undefeated on the road in league play. All this success accumulated into winning CUSA Coach of the Year.
Â
The award, which enters its fourth season, is named after former Harvard head coach Kathy Delaney-Smith and is given annually to head coaches in mid-major conferences based on their success across the regular and postseason as well as recruiting, preseason expectations, injuries and tactical coaching. The 20-person preseason list will be whittled down to a 10-person midseason watch list in January with five finalists being announced in March. The winner will be named around the Women's Final Four in Columbus, Ohio, which begins on April 2, 2027.
Â
The Lady Techsters open the season against Toledo in the MAC-SBC challenge in Toledo on November 1st at 6 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and you can listen to the game on the LA Tech Sports Network (97.7 FM).
