
Sawyer Leads Women To First-Place Finish As Bulldogs Wrap Up Belhaven Invitational

Kaitlyn Sawyer secured her second victory and third consecutive top-three finish of the season.
RUSTON -- Louisiana Tech cross country competed at the Belhaven Invitational at Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Mississippi on Friday, with the women's team finishing first overall in the 6k and the men's team finishing fourth in the 8k.
The women were led by freshman Kaitlyn Sawyer who finished first overall, setting a personal best in the 6k with a time of 23:44.0. It was her second first-place finish and third finish in the top three through three races this season.
Her time today is good for the sixth-fastest 6k time in women's program history.
Bailey Springer (2nd), and Delaney Springer (3rd) finished in the top three for the Bulldogs, along with Mallory Swint (8th), Brooke Fontenot (11th), Gracie Pepitone (13th) and Ersalee Unangst (15th) rounding out the top 15.
The men were led by freshman Joshua Dalton, who placed 8th in the 8k, followed by Kaleb Weber in 15th.
The Bulldogs conclude the regular season on Friday, October 16, returning to Choctaw Trails for the Watson Cross Country Classic in Clinton.
