LYNCHBURG, Va. – Louisiana Tech softball handed Liberty its first conference series sweep in 11 years, and its first since joining Conference USA, as the Bulldogs scored nine unanswered runs Sunday afternoon to defeat the Flames 9-7 at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.The win moves LA Tech to 26-23 (12-12 CUSA).
Down 4-0 in the fifth, Tech scored six runs to take a 6-4 lead and three more across the final two innings to secure the 9-7 victory and the series sweep.
The Bulldogs finished with seven hits to Liberty's nine.
Reagan Marchant and
Gracie Flores finished with two hits apiece while Marchant drove in three runs, followed by two from Flores.
Alannah Rogers added one hit and one RBI while
Allie Furr and
Elena Heng added hits.
Bradi Gallaway and
Reese Torres finished with one RBI each.
Bryannah Campos (7-3) earned the win in relief. Campos came in in the bottom of the third with two outs and tossed 4.1 innings while allowing three runs on two hits with three strikeouts to pick up her second win of the series.
Laney Johnson made the start and pitched one inning, allowing two runs on five hits with one strikeout.
Allie Floyd pitched 1.2 innings and gave up two runs on four hits with two walks and one strikeout.
Liberty struck first in the bottom of the second as they recorded a one-out single followed by a double put two runners in scoring position. Two more singles brought both runners home to make it 2-0. The Flames later singled and attempted to score a runner from third, but Heng threw her out at the plate to end the threat.
After a scoreless second from both sides, Liberty added two runs on three hits to take a 4-0 lead in the third. A two-out walk and a single put two aboard for Brook Roberts, who drove both runners in on a single up the middle.
Neither team could scratch a run in the fourth before LA Tech plated six in the fifth to take a 6-4 lead. Torres and Baffuto drew back-to-back walks to start the inning followed by a single from Heng to load the bases. Flores singled to left to drive in Tech's first two runs, plating
Jina Baffuto and Torres to make it 6-2. Gallaway drew a walk followed by a Liberty pitching change.
Alannah Rogers reached on a fielding error on a sacrifice fly that scored Heng to pull within a run at 4-3. Marchant gave LA Tech its first lead of the afternoon, 5-4, with a single to right that scored Gallaway and
Cali Bennett who pinch ran for Flores. Brooks drew a walk to load the bases while Torres brought home Rogers on a sacrifice fly to make it 6-4 Tech.
The Bulldogs took an 8-4 lead in the sixth as Heng walked and came around to score on a Furr single that resulted in an error in left field. Furr advanced to third on a fly out and came around to score on Gallaway groundout to make it 8-4.
Liberty used a three-run home run in the bottom of the inning to cut Tech's lead to one at 8-7. Marchant put the final stamp on the game with a solo home run to left center in the top of the seventh, her 16
th long ball of the season.
Campos was able to shut the door in the seventh with a 1-2-3 inning to secure the Bulldog victory as she induced a fly out, groundout and foul out.

Today, as well as this entire weekend we played great team softball and had contributions in all phases of the game.
