ARLINGTON, Texas – The Louisiana Tech bowling team went 2-0 on day one of the NCAA Regional Tournament Friday to advance to Saturday's championship match for a chance to move on to next week's Final Four.
The Bulldogs opened the day with a 2-1 Mega Match victory over Bryant. After dropping the traditional match, 960-925, Tech responded in a big way by winning the five-game Baker set, 1,053-868, to even the match. LA Tech then secured the win in the tiebreaker, 4-2.
Kylee Trexler led the way in the traditional match with a 203, followed by
Jenna Stretch (194) and
Juliana Kerrigan (188).
Frances Davila (172) and
Rachel Ong (168) rounded out the lineup.
In the second match of the day, the Bulldogs earned a 2-0 win over Newman. LA Tech took the traditional match, 987-918, behind strong performances from Stretch (218), Kerrigan (210) and Trexler (201).
Paulina Avalos added a 187, while Ong rolled a 171.
Tech closed out the sweep with a 1,006-946 win in the five-game Baker format to remain unbeaten on the day.
With the two wins, the Bulldogs advance to Saturday's championship match with a spot in the Final Four on the line.
