LEXINGTON, Ky. –
Oscar Smith and
Lukundo Kapambalala advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA East Regional on Friday night after impressive performances Wednesday.

Smith ran a 13.45 in the 110m hurdles, finishing third in his heat for an automatic bid to qualify for the quarterfinals. His time is his best mark of the season and the ninth fastest in the 48 man field.

Lukundo ran a 10.28 in the 100m dash, finishing fourth in his heat. The time is the 22
nd fastest in the field, allowing him to move on for the quarterfinals.

Both will compete on Friday to try and qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugune, Oregon. Smith will run at 5:15 p.m. CT and Lukundo will follow at 5:35 p.m. CT.

Other Bulldogs who competed consist of
Cobe Johnson,
Karo Oghomi, and Carl Murray IV.

Johnson leaped 7.55m in the long jump, his second longest jump of the season. He finished 19
th in the event and second among CUSA qualifiers.
Â
Oghomi ran a 10.43 100m and a 21.96 200m. He was the only Bulldog to compete in multiple events on Wednesday.

Murray IV narrowly missed qualifying in the 100m, running a 10.29 in heat five, finishing fifth. His time was 0.006 slower than 24
th place, just barely edging him out of competing Friday. His time was the second fastest of the season.

Tomorrow, Bulldogs
Jamara Patterson and
Jaitlyn Ware will compete in the 400m and 200m, respectively. The event will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats can be followed at latechsports.com.
