Men's 4x100 Relay Break 39 Year Old Record in NCAA East Regional

The men's 4x100 relay team broke a 39-year-old program record on the final day of the men’s season at the NCAA East Regional Friday night, running the fastest time in Bulldog history.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 4x100 relay team broke a 39-year-old program record on the final day of the men's season at the NCAA East Regional Friday night, running the fastest time in Bulldog history.
The 4x100m team of Carl Murray IV, Abdulraof Rashid, Lukundo Kapambalala and Madonna Favour ran a program best 39.05 time, breaking a record that stood for nearly 40 years. The team placed 13th in the event, barely missing the cut to advance to the NCAA Championships by four-tenths of a second.
Oscar Smith also performed well in Lexington, running 13.55 in the 110m hurdles, also placing 13th in the event. Smith was sensational all week, running a 13.45 on Wednesday, the third fastest time in program history.
Kapambalala rounded out the day with a 10.31 in the 100m dash, placing 20th in the event.
Tomorrow, the Bulldogs will compete in the women's 4x400m relay, the 400m dash and the discus. The event will be streamed on ESPN+, starting at 12:00 p.m. CT and live stats can be followed at latechsports.com.
