Hunter Corneliusen enters his second year as associate director of athletics communications at Louisiana Tech while serving as the primary media contact for football and softball.

At Louisiana Tech, he has promoted two Conference USA Freshman of the Year honorees, 29 all-conference selections, and 10 College Sports Communicators Academic-All District recipients.  

As the Bulldogs’ football contact, the native Kansan led the promotional efforts for national award semifinalists Willie Roberts (2023 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award) and Tre Harris (2022 Fred Biletnikoff Award) in addition to the 2022 Mortell Holder of the Year, Noah White. Additionally, Michael Richard (2023, The Athletic) and Marquis Crosby (2022, College Football News) earned Freshman All-American distinction in back-to-back seasons.

During his time as the Tech Softball SID, he has promoted a pair of NFCA All-Mideast Region selections in Kylie Neel and Allie Floyd.

Corneliusen arrived in Ruston, in July of 2022 as one of the youngest FBS Football SIDs in the country at the age of 24.

Before LA Tech, he was a graduate assistant in the Missouri State Athletics Communications Department from 2021-2022. During his year-and-a-half stint, he served as the primary media contact for the Bears’ women’s soccer, swimming and diving, tennis (2021), and beach volleyball programs while assisting with baseball, football, and basketball gameday media responsibilities.

In 2022, Corneliusen oversaw the Bears graphic design elements while also working as a secondary contact for the 2022 NCAA Regional qualifying baseball program.

At Missouri State, he helped publicize 11 all-conference selections between beach volleyball and women’s soccer. As the swim SID, the Bears had 24 conference champions and 11 conference champion relay teams, while the women’s squad won back-to-back league MVC team championships in 2021 and 2022. Corneliusen also publicized the efforts of 2022 NCAA Championship participant Anna Miller. 

He started his career as a student assistant in 2016 in the Kansas State Athletic Communications Department, a role he would hold for all four years while completing his bachelor’s degree in Manhattan. He served as the primary contact for Women’s Golf (2017-19) in addition to assisting football, basketball, baseball, women’s soccer and volleyball game day communications operations and working weekly football press conferences for head coaches Bill Snyder and Chris Klieman.

Aside from his work at LA Tech, Missouri State, and K-State, Corneliusen also has worked as a media liaison for numerous tournaments and events. He served as a liaison for the 2022 Bass Pro Tournament of Champions, where he oversaw the tournament media availability and operations of some of the top high school programs and players in the country, including Sierra Canyon (Amari Bailey, Bronny James) and Paul VI (Dug McDaniel). 

Corneliusen has served as the primary on-site media contact 2A KSHSAA State Basketball Tournament in 2019 and on the stat crew for numerous MSHSAA basketball and softball tournaments.

In the summer of 2019, the Kansas native worked as a feature writer for Sports in Kansas, writing over 20 feature articles on some of the top high school standouts in the state.

A native of Shawnee, Kansas, Corneliusen is a 2020 graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a minor in public relations and leadership studies. He obtained his master’s degree in sports management from Missouri State in 2022.
