Terri Anderson enters her third season with Louisiana Tech’s men’s and women’s track and field programs. Anderson was hired in January 2020 after serving as an assistant track and field coach for various programs over the past eight years. She works primarily with LA Tech's throwers.
In 2021, Anderson helped guide men's javelin throwers Tripp Marcus and Henry Terral to a combined eight top-11 marks in program history, including the top four in program history from Marcus. Marcus set the school record in the javelin throw at Northwestern State's Leon Johnson NSU Invitational with heave of 72.51 meters (237'-11"). His performance helped him earn C-USA Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honors. Marcus went on to place third at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships with a heave of 70.02 meters (229'-09") to earn Third Team All-Conference USA honors. Under Anderson's tutelage, Marcus and Terral both qualified for the NCAA East Regionals.
During the indoor season, Anderson coached Bulldog Johnie Jean-Jacques and Lady Techster Rhea Thompson to top-five finishes in the men's shot put and women's weight throw and shot put, respectively, at the C-USA Indoor Championships. Thompson was also named the C-USA Women's Field Athlete of the Week during the indoor season after placing first in the shot put and fourth in the weight throw at the KMS Open.
During the 2020 indoor season, Anderson guided Tech thrower Maurice Moore to multiple top-10 finishes in the weight throw, including Moore’s third-place finish at the Conference USA Championships, third-place mark at the J.D. Martin Invitational and eight-place finish at Houston G5 & Super 22 Invitational.
Before joining the LA Tech coaching staff, Anderson has served as an assistant coach at Bethel College (North Newton, Kansas), Southwestern College (Winfield, Kansas), UNLV and Western Illinois. Anderson coached three school record holders and one national qualifier during her time at Bethel.
In 2016, Anderson served as a volunteer assistant coach at UNLV. Before heading to Las Vegas, Anderson spent two years as an assistant at Western Illinois, working with the program’s throwers.
During her final season with the Leathernecks, Anderson mentored Max Ford, who broke the javelin record at Western Illinois and earned a trip to the NCAA East Preliminaries. Anderson also helped many WIU throwers reach personal bests during her two-year tenure as a graduate assistant coach.
