Louisiana Tech head coach Brooke Stoehr announced an addition to her Lady Techster’s staff in July, with Tez Dumars assuming the role of assistant coach.
Dumars comes to Ruston after a one-year stint with the North Texas Women’s Basketball program during the 2022-23 season as an assistant coach for the Mean Green. Dumars was responsible for developing the Mean Green’s guards and wings, including Conference USA All-Conference guard Quincy Noble.
Before his time in Denton, Texas, Dumars served as the assistant director and the 16U head coach of FAM Elite, an Adidas 3SSB club based in Houston, Texas. His team went on to win an Adidas 3SSB National championship in just their first year on the Adidas circuit. He was also the Founder and Executive Director of Amarillo's West Texas Premier Basketball Club.
In 2018-19, Dumars rejoined his alma mater at West Texas A&M as an assistant coach helping guide The Buffs to a 34-4 record and an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Division II Championship tournament after winning regular season and conference titles in the Lone Star Conference.
At West Texas A&M, Dumars worked with the 2019 LSC Conference Freshman of the Year, Qua Grant, and All-Conference selections in Joel Murray and NABC All-American Ryan Quaid.
Dumars has also trained the likes of Phoenix Mercury guard Moriah Jefferson, Texas Tech guard and Big 12 All-Freshman selection Bailey Maupin, Villanova guard Brendan Hausen, and WBCA Division II All-American Grace Foster.
Dumars graduated from West Texas A&M in 2015, where he handled the point guard duties for four seasons in Canyon. He graduated as the fourth-highest leading scorer in program history with 1,230 points and was named the Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in general studies.
After his collegiate career, Dumars played professionally overseas with Anagennises Germasogeia and ForexTime Apollon of the Cyprus Division A-League. During his first season as a pro, he averaged 18.5 points per game, shooting .387 from the field and .328 from three.
Dumars is a Garland Lakeview Centennial high school graduate, where he led his team to the Texas 5A State Finals as a junior and senior.
