Tyler Hotz enters his first year as a member of the Athletic Communications department at Louisiana Tech University. He is responsible for the publicity and promotion of baseball, volleyball, cross country, and track and field.

As an undergraduate student, Hotz served as the primary strategic communications contact for baseball and field hockey at Appalachian State University. He worked two seasons with App State’s field hockey program before taking over as the primary contact for baseball in January 2020.

Hotz helped highlight the accomplishments of App State pitcher Jack Hartman, who the Pittsburgh Pirates drafted No. 108 overall in the 2020 MLB Draft. Hartman was App State’s highest draft selection since 1986.

In field hockey, Hotz worked closely with head coach Meghan Dawson, who led App State to semifinal appearances in the Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Tournament in 2018 and 2019. He also promoted four all-conference honorees, including goalkeeper Rachel Gaines, who was named to the 2020 U.S. Women’s National Development Team in January.

Aside from his work at App State, Hotz volunteered with Tennessee Athletics' media relations staff over the summer in 2017 and 2018. He also volunteered at media day events with the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Southeastern Conference during his undergraduate career.

The Knoxville, Tennessee native is a 2020 graduate of Appalachian State University with bachelor’s degrees in public relations and journalism and a minor in marketing.
