RUSTON. La. (Oct. 8) - The Louisiana Tech volleyball team came short again in Sun Belt Conference action with a loss to Florida International (13-15, 15-6, 12-15, 13-15) on Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Techsters (6-14, 0-6) remained winless in SBC play while Florida International (7-11, 1-5) captured their first conference win.
The Lady Techsters led all four games at one point but could not get past the Golden Panthers in the contest.
A bright sport for Louisiana Tech was Julia Mann's fourth straight double double with 11 kills and 15 digs.
Mandy Arnold had a team high 14 kills in the Tech defeat. Game one was tight with Tech taking a 12-11 lead before FIU rallied to take game one by a 15-13 score.
Tech got out early in game two and cruised to the win aided by four straight points off Kacie Martin serves late in the game including two aces. The Lady Techsters evened the match at 1-1 with a 15-6 game two win. Tech had another lead in game three but FIU rallied to win 15-12, scoring the last five points of the game.
The Lady Techsters looked like they would force a game five leading 5-0 early in game four and 10-5 at one point buy FIU came back again to win game four 15-13 and the match three games to one.
Michelle Twitty had a career high 15 digs while Kacie Martin had 14 and Kelli Fitzpatrick 12.
Rebekah Boyd recorded 10 kills in the match for Tech. Tech returns to action on Tuesday when the Lady Techsters host Grambling State at 7:00 p.m.
