Baker, Men's Golf Finish Second at Gulf Coast Classic

Baker tied for first place with a two round score of 150 but had to wait an hour and a half for the rest of the field to finish to see if there would be a playoff. The Shreveport native returned to the course but lost a one-hole playoff to finish second in a field of over 50 golfers.
"I'm real proud of Scott," said Louisiana Tech head coach Tom Stinson. "It's very difficult to come back on the course after you've cooled off but I'm very proud of the way he played."
The Bulldogs were in fourth place after the first day of the tournament but stormed back on day two to post the best team score in the second round and finish second in the 10 team tournament.
"I don't know if it was the first tournament jitters but we didn't shoot as well as we could have in the first round," Stinson said. "But we made a good strong comeback and had a real good finish."
Also finishing in the top 10 golfters for the Bulldogs was West Monroe native Scott Rainwater who finished the tournament with a two-day total of 154.
Other Bulldogs scoring in the tournament were Jay Caserta -156, Kevin Fetzner - 156, Brad Wright - 161 and Casey Martin - 165.
