Henderson To Miss Western Kentucky Game

RUSTON (Jan. 16) - Louisiana Tech senior guard Gerrod Henderson will miss the Bulldogs next game to recover from an injury suffered during Tech's last ballgame this past Saturday. Henderson dislocated his left shoulder chasing down a rebound with 16:21 remaining in the second half in Tech's game at Arkansas State. He left the court and did not return to the game.

The Bulldogs travel to Western Kentucky on Wednesday to prepare for a Thursday night Sun Belt Conference matchup. Henderson will stay behind to receive more intensive treatment from Dr. Billy Bundrick of the Bone and Joint Clinic in Shreveport.

According to Louisiana Tech head trainer Sam Wilkinson, Henderson is expected to rejoin the team for Friday's practice.

"Obviously he's a big part of our team," said Tech head coach Keith Richard. "Not just in scoring but in many other areas. We hope to get him back as soon as we can. For now we just need him to get better and for other players to step up for us."

The Haynesville, La., native leads the team and is second in the conference with 18.9 points per game. Henderson, last seasons Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, also leads the conference with 40 steals.

Henderson will be replaced by sophomore guard Brian Martin, who will be making his first start for Louisiana Tech. Martin has played in 12 games and averaged 3.2 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.
