Louisiana Tech gained control with an early 18-4 lead and never looked back as the Bulldogs cruised to a 77-49 win over Millsaps College Sunday afternoon at the Thomas Assembly Center.

The Bulldogs (1-1) controlled the boards and shot 50.0 percent from the field to claim their first victory of the season.

"Regardless of our opponent, it is important that our team comes out in workmanlike fashion every night and really that was what this was about tonight," said Louisiana Tech head coach Keith Richard.

Louisiana Tech was able to take control early by some sharp shooting in the first half by senior guards Lavelle Felton and Michael Wilder who scored 11 and 10 points respectively. The two players combined to shoot 5-of-7 from three-point range in the contest.

"I was looking for those two to play better than they did against Florida and I thought that they really did today," Richard said. "Coming out of the Florida game, guard play was a really concern of mine. But overall, our guard play was much better in today?s game."

The Bulldogs were also able to score in the low post with senior forward Antonio Meeking leading the team with 15 points while senior guard Darrian Brown scored 12 points and led the team with nine rebounds.

Louisiana Tech dominated the boards, outrebounding the Majors (0-1) 43-24.

The Bulldogs also played some stringent defense, holding Millsaps to just 38.3 percent from the floor and only 20.0 percent from three-point range.

The win improved Louisiana Tech to 15-0 at home against non-conference opponents under Richard.

Millsaps' Thomas Adams led all scorers with 17 points while McKenzie Lash added 16 points for the Majors.

Louisiana Tech will return to action on Dec. 7 when the Bulldogs travel to take on No. 12 ranked Mississippi State.
