Tech Drops 72-60 Decision To Arkansas Louisiana Tech committed 20 turnovers leading to 27 Razorback points as the Bulldogs fell 72-60 to Arkansas Tuesday night at Bud Walton Arena.
The Bulldogs (1-3) were plagued with turnover problems in the first half, turning the ball over 14 times which the Razorbacks (2-4) converted to 20 points to build a 30-25 halftime lead.
"We had too many turnovers that led to too many Arkansas points," said Louisiana Tech head coach Keith Richard. "That was really the story of the game in the big picture."
Defensively, Louisiana Tech did a good job in the first half, holding Arkansas to just 32.3 percent (10-of-31) in the first half, including just 23.1 percent (3-of-13) from three-point range.
But the Razorbacks heated up in the second half, hitting 55. 6 percent (15-of-27), including 6-of-10 three-pointers to stretch out the lead.
"We got better, even in losing," Richard said. "It's tough for these young men to go into Gainesville, into Starkville and into Fayetteville. We didn?t win tonight but we made progress."
Offensively, the Bulldogs improved with three different Tech players scoring in double-digits.
Senior forward
Antonio Meeking recorded his second double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard
Lavelle Felton scored 16 points while
Darrian Brown added 14 points.
Arkansas' Jonathon Modica led all scorers with 19 points while Eric Ferguson and Kendrick Davis scored 16 points apiece.
Louisiana Tech returns to action on Dec. 17 when the Bulldogs host Harding at the Thomas Assembly Center.
