Louisiana Tech used a 14-3 run in the last four minutes of play to collect a 73-68 win over Jackson State Saturday night at the Thomas Assembly Center.

The Bulldogs (3-3) trailed for much of the second half before stepping up their play in the final few minutes of the contest.

"We didn't play particularly well but we played with heart and pride, especially in the last five minutes," said Louisiana Tech head coach Keith Richard. "I also thought the crowd really helped those young men and that really helped."

Tech trailed 65-59 with 3:53 remaining when the team clamped down defensively, holding the Tigers (1-7) without a field goal the rest of the way.

"We did not play smart enough at the end," said Jackson State head coach Andy Stoglin. "We knew they would turn it up and make a run. All good teams make runs and we knew they would make one."

The Bulldogs had to fight to get the win though as the offense struggled periodically throughout the game.

Tech shot only 39.6 percent from the field but outrebounded the Tigers 41-24 and hit 33-of-43 free throws to get the come-from-behind victory.

Senior forward Antonio Meeking stepped up big for Louisiana Tech, recording a double-double with a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds. Michael Wilder was the only other Bulldog in double-figures with 11 points.

Tim Henderson led Jackson State with 20 points while Jamal Ward added 10 points.

Louisiana Tech will return to action on Dec. 30 when the team will take on the University of Texas.
