Tech softball travels to Lafayette
Lady Techster softball (1-1) will play their first road game of the season tomorrow when they travel to in-state rival University of Louisiana-Lafayette for a 4 p.m. double-header.
?Playing Lafayette prepares us well for conference games,? Tech head coach Sara Dawson said. ?For our young players this is a good eye opener to the level we want to play at.?
Tech is coming off a double-header split against Centenary College in which the Techsters won the first game (7-6) and dropped the second contest (4-2).
Tech won the first game in extra innings thanks to the heroics of freshman first baseman Alison White.
The Texas native tied the score in the first game in the bottom of the seventh inning with a three-run home run and later scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
?I think our offensive production was good,? Dawson said. ?In the second game, we just couldn?t put together anything back-to-back. Overall, offensively, it was a good note to start out on.?
UL-Lafayette will be playing their first game of the season. Head coach Stefni Lotief is in her third year as head coach of the Lady Cajuns, who finished 50-13 last season.
