Softball uses late rally for doubleheader split.
Ruston ? Down one run in the bottom of the sixth inning the Lady Techsters (8-24) scored two runs to help propel the squad to a 2-1 victory. Northwestern State won game one by a 5-1 margin to open play at The Lady Techster Softball Complex.
In game two, senior starter Marla Pinkston gutted out the victory (5-9) throwing seven complete innings while allowing one unearned run.
The Texas native got some much needed run support in the sixth inning when junior short stop Casey Reiff tripled in Amber Miles to tie the game.
Freshman Bridget Broadnax followed with a game winning sacrifice fly to deep left field for the go-ahead run.
In game one a familiar problem, errors, led to the Tech defeat. A first inning fielding error led to three early unearned runs as the Techsters were down 3-0 before they ever came to the plate.
Freshman Kristin Rupp (3-12) picked up the loss allowing five runs (two earned) in seven innings of action.
Tech returns to the diamond on April 1st with a road doubleheader at Jackson State.
