Ruston - On Thursday night the Lady Techster softball (12-29, 2-2) squad ran into an All-American candidate who was as good as advertised in game one and a rash of errors in game two which led to Tech dropping both ends of a doubleheader to Fresno State (23-18, 4-2) by scores of 3-0 and 10-1.

In the day?s opener, Fresno State?s Jamie Southern pitched seven complete innings allowing no runs, no walks and only two hits. Tech didn?t manage a base runner after the second inning.

Marla Pinkston (8-12) pitched well but picked up the loss while allowing one earned run (three total) over seven complete innings. Tech?s only senior struck out seven batters while walking three in seven innings.

No Lady Techster hitter reached base more than once during the contest.

In game two, fielding errors in the second inning led to four unearned runs and an early 4-0 deficit. Fresno State would later add six more runs to the scoreboard in the 10-1 victory.

Tech committed four errors total in game two leading to five unearned runs.

Freshman Kristin Rupp picked up the loss in seven innings of work. She allowed 13 hits and one walk.

In game two, Brittany Stanley notched three hits while Casey Reiff had two base knocks (one double).

Tech returns to action on Saturday when it plays host to Western Athletic Conference foe San Jose State University. The doubleheader?s scheduled first pitch is at 1 p.m.
