Softball swept Friday at Reno
Tech softball (14-31, 4-4) ran into a road block on Friday when it lost both ends of a double header to Nevada (18-27, 3-7) by scores of 11-2 (five innings) and 6-4.
Offensively, Nevada came out strong in game one taking an early lead before winning the contest in five innings.
"You have to give Nevada credit," Tech head coach Sarah Dawson said. "They came out and hit the ball, and they hit the ball hard."
Marla Pinkston picked up the loss in game one to fall to 10-13 on the season.
The Lady Techsters kept the second game close but squandered a seventh inning chance to score before falling by the final, 6-4.
Junior Casey Reiff hit her second home run of the season and Ashley Aycock tied the game at three with a two-run base knock.
However, with only one out in the top of the last inning Tech was unable to score with the bases loaded and its four and five hitters at the plate.
Freshman Kristin Rupp pitched competitively but was saddled with the loss and fell to 4-15 on the season.
Tech will see the same team on Saturday when the two clubs meets for a 4 p.m. (central time) double header to conclude the teams' four-game set.
