Box Score Updated May 11, 2003 00:02:05 Softball Loses Final Two on Season

Lady Techster softball (16-42, 6-14) dropped both ends of a Saturday afternoon doubleheader at WAC foe San Jose State by scores of 5-4(9) and 1-0.

Game one was hotly contested as Tech erased a 2-0 deficit in the top of the seventh inning with a four-run rally.

Tech sophomore Ashley Aycock had the big blow with a two-RBI base knock. Mary Cohn also had a RBI in the frame.

However, San Jose State battled back to score two runs in their half of the seventh inning to send the game into extra frames.

San Jose State eventually won the game with a lone run in the ninth inning off reliever Kristin Rupp.

Rupp (5-18) pitched the final inning and picked up the loss.

Tech managed little offense in the second game dropping a seven inning score by the count of 1-0.

Rupp was saddled with the hard-luck loss and finished the season at 5-19.

No Techster hitter had more than one in hit in game two with the team as a whole only picking up six hits on the day.

"We didn't hit well offensively in either game," Tech head coach Sarah Dawson said. "We battled back in game one but couldn't close the door. In game two we just couldn't hit."
