Softball drops two at home
Ruston - Tech (16-36, 6-8) managed the hits (18 over two games) but not the runs in dropping both ends of a doubleheader at home to the University of Hawaii (35-18, 15-3) by scores of 6-3 and 8-3.
Game one proved to be competitive until Hawaii managed three runs in the top of the last inning and took a four-run lead into the bottom of the seventh.
The Lady Techsters cut the lead to 6-3 on a RBI single from junior Jennifer LaRussa which scored sophomore Brittany Stanley. However, the comeback was short lived as Bridget Broadnax struck with the tying run in the on deck circle.
Marla Pinkston (11-16) took the loss for Tech throwing a complete seven innings and only allowing three earned runs.
In game two, Hawaii showed their offensive prowess by scoring five runs in the first three innings on way to an 8-3 victory.
Freshman Kristin Rupp (5-17) picked up the loss throwing 2 2/3rds innings and allowing five runs (three earned).
Stanley had a strong day at the plate logging four hits on the day with one RBI and two runs scored.
Tech closes out its home season with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
