Tulsa Tops Volleyball in Three GamesBoxscore TULSA, Okla. ? Louisiana Tech could not post its first road win in conference action on Saturday afternoon as Tulsa toppled the Lady Techsters in three games at the Donald W. Reynolds Center, 26-30, 19-30,28-30.
The Lady Techsters (5-13, 1-4 WAC) played very well for 2/3 of the opening game but a late Tulsa rally propelled the Golden Hurricane (13-4, 2-4 WAC) to a 30-26 victory in game one. Tech led 20-16 only to see Tulsa scored six straight points to take a 22-20 and go on to edge Tech in game one. Joy Okpa and Megan Rush led Tech with four kills each in the first game.
The Lady Techsters could regain the form Tech showed in game one as Tulsa won games two and three to win the match.
Okpa led Tech with 10 kills while Natalie Shipp added nine. Okpa also had 12 digs to post her seventh double double of the season. Tech was again solid on defense with 56 digs to Tulsa?s 45 and the Lady Techsters came up with eight blocks to TU?s five but could not play well enough on offense to break their losing steak.
Tulsa got off to a big lead in game two and cruised on to a 30-19 win in game two to take a two game lead. Tech hit just .176 in the second game as Tulsa posted a .268 hitting percentage.
Tech started slowly in game three and could never recover after Tulsa jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the opening stages of the game. The Lady Techsters rallied late to tie the game at 28-28 but Tulsa responded to win the final two points of the game to win the match. The Lady Techsters went on an 8-0 run to make things interesting in the third game.
The Lady Techster play two home matches next week on Thursday and Saturday. Tech hosts No. 4 Hawaii on Thursday before taking on San Jose State on Saturday.
