Bulldogs Ready To Face Memphis
Boxscore
Louisiana Tech looks for its second win in as many days Monday as the Bulldogs take to the road to face Memphis in a 7 p.m. contest at the FedExForum.
Both teams stand at 4-4 on the season.
Tech is coming off a big 81-63 home win over McNeese State last Saturday in what coach Keith Richard called the Bulldogs' "best game so far this season" while Memphis took a 71-66 win over Austin Peay that same night.
Tech's 81-point performance against McNeese State was Tech's best offensive showing of the season.
Sophomore forward Paul Millsap leads the Bulldogs with 21.4 points and 12.3
rebounds per contest and has posted double-doubles in six of Tech's eight games this season.
But while Millsap is a cornerstone for the Bulldogs, it was guard Donell Allick who sparked Tech against Memphis as he hit for a career-high 23 points. Allick is averaging 11.9 points per game while senior guard Corey Dean is the only other Bulldog scoring in double figures with 12.0 ppg.
Memphis also has three players scoring in double figures, led by forward Rodney Carney with 17.4 ppg. Sean Banks is adding 16.0 ppg for the Tigers while Memphis' Darius Washington is chipping in with 12.5 ppg.
On paper the game looks to be a tight one as Tech is averaging 69.1 ppg compared to Memphis' 69.7 ppg. The Tigers are averaging 40.9 rebounds per contest while Tech is pulling down 38.9 boards per contest.
The Tech-Memphis is tied at 1-1 with the teams meeting only on a home-and-home basis during the 1952-53 season. Both teams won at home, with Memphis taking a 70-63 win before the Bulldogs countered with a 93-83 victory.
After facing Memphis Louisiana Tech will move into Western Athletic Conference action, playing the first two games on the road with a Dec. 30 contest at Tulsa and a Jan. 1 game at Rice.
