Millsap Honored By Rivals.com

Louisiana Tech forward Paul Millsap has been named a second-team selection to the Rivals.com All-Freshman basketball team as announced Tuesday.

Millsap, a 6-7, 225-pounder out of Louisiana's Grambling High School, had earlier been named the Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year a second-team All-WAC selection.

"I'm very happy to be honored this way and to do everything I can to help my team," Millsap said.

The NCAA's No. 1 rebounder with 12.3 rebounds per game also leads the Bulldogs and ranks seventh in WAC scoring with 15.5 points per game. Millsap also leads the WAC in blocked shots with 1.68 per contest.

Millsap recorded 18 double-doubles during regular-season play and scored 20 or more points in eight games. He poured in a season high of 27 points against Rice on Jan. 5 while pulling down a career-high 21 rebounds at Nevada on Jan. 8.

He is also Louisiana Tech's all-time leading freshman rebounder with 344 boards and fourth all-time freshman scorer with 435 points, ranking behind only Jackie Moreland, Karl Malone and Anthony Dade. Millsap is only 14 points shy of passing Dade to become Tech's third all-time leading freshman scorer.

Millsap was named WAC Player of the Week on Jan. 26 and was a two-time Louisiana Sports Writers Association Player of the Week, picking up the honors on Dec. 17 and Feb. 10.

Minnesota's Kris Humphries was named the Rivals.com Freshman of the Year and was joined on the first team by Wake Forest's Chris Paul, Duke's Luol Deng, Memphis' Sean Banks and Iowa State's Chris Stinson.

Joining Millsap as second-team selections were Pittsbrugh's Chris Taft, California's Leon Powe, Arkansas' Ronnie Brewer and LSU's Brandon Bass.
