Bulldogs Look To Bounce Back Against Fresno State
Louisiana Tech looks to stop a two-game losing skid Saturday as the Bulldogs play host to Fresno State at 6:30 p.m. in the Thomas Assembly Center.
Tech stands at 6-6 overall and 1-2 in the Western Athletic Conference while Fresno State is 8-4 and 2-1.
Both teams are coming off losses as Tech has dropped games at Rice and at home against Nevada last Thursday, the same day Fresno State suffered its first WAC loss of the season as SMU took a 74-63 win.
Sophomore forward Paul Millsap leads Louisiana Tech with 19.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per contest while senior guard Corey Dean is adding 10.4 points and 3.8 boards per game.
Senior guard Donell Allick rounds out Tech?s double-digit scorers with 10.0 ppg and is adding 3.7 rebounds per contest.
?We?re still trying to find the right mix and to get the right people around Paul to help us get better offensively,? Tech coach Keith Richard said. ?Fresno State is a good team coming off a loss, so we know we?ve got to be ready.?
Tech is averaging 65.7 points per game but has struggled offensively in WAC contests, where the Bulldogs are averaging 57.0 points per game. On the other side of the ball, Fresno State is averaging 73.8 points per game and 68.3 ppg through its first three WAC contests.
Ja?Vance Coleman leads Fresno State scorers with 18.7 ppg and is adding 6.6 rebounds per game while Mustafa Al-Sayyad is FSU?s top man on the boards with 8.3 rpg and is adding 12.8 ppg.
Donovan Morris is Fresno State?s other double-figure scorer with 11.1 ppg.
Louisiana Tech leads Fresno State 6-4 in a series which began in first round action of the NCAA Tournament in 1984 when Tech took a 66-56 win. Tech also won the last meeting between the teams with a 80-75 double overtime win last season in Ruston.
The tight series has seen Tech outscore Fresno State 671-663 for an average win of 67.1-66.3.
Tech?s game against Fresno State will be aired live on KXKZ-FM 1007.5 in Ruston with the pregame show beginning at 6 p.m.
