Texas State Defeats Tech Soccer 2-0Boxscore The Lady Techster soccer team dropped its second consecutive match with a 2-0 loss to Texas State today at the Ladyjack Soccer Classic, hosted by Stephen F. Austin.
Forward
Kodi Bethay and defender
Savanna Russo were both selected to the all-tournament team. Bethay recorded two shots during the tournament as a threat on offense, while Russo played a key role on defense to limit S.F.A. and Texas State's offense to two goals each.
Just as in Tech's loss to S.F.A. on Friday night, the contest with Texas State was knotted at zero at halftime before Texas State (3-6) scored two goals in the second half and kept the Lady Techsters (5-3) off the scoreboard.
Texas State's first goal came on a penalty kick by Rikki Padia in the 60th minute, and the second goal came only 25 seconds later, when Natalie Holder hit the back of the net.
Tech freshman goalkeeper
Chrissy Haisler recorded 14 goals throughout the 90 minutes, as Texas State outshot the Lady Techsters 25-8.
Midfielders Kathleen McCullough and
Brook Kelly both took two shots, and Kat Peters,
Julie Hadzic,
Alex Reinhart and
Hayley Smith each took one shot.
After the Lady Techsters rolled to a 5-1 record with a five-match winning streak, Tech has dropped two matches in a row, but the Lady Techsters look to get back to the winning column when they host McNeese State on Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. in Joe Aillet Stadium.
