Tigers Down Bulldogs Despite Hard EffortBoxscore BATON ROUGE, La. -- The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (2-9) were bested in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center by the LSU Tigers (7-3) by a final score of 68-52 in front of a crowd of 8,916 fans.
?I thought we played hard tonight,? Tech head coach Keith Richard said. ?They really listened to the scout and handled the 2-3 zone very well.?
The Bulldogs took their first lead of the ballgame with a 17-foot jumper from senior
Harry Disy with 18:01 on the clock to put the score at 2-1. Senior
Chad McKenzie added to the Bulldog lead with a lay-up on the ensuing possession to go up 4-1.
Sophomore Garrett Temple drilled a three-pointer from the top of the key to tie the game with 16:35 left to go in the half shortly after which sparked a 10-0 Tiger run before senior
Terry Parker hit a jumper to cut LSU?s lead to 11-6 with 12:45 on the clock. Parker connected again after picking off a Tiger pass and made the score 11-8.
LSU followed with a 9-2 run before Parker rattled off his eighth straight Bulldog point to cut the Tiger lead to 20-12 with 8:02 left to go in the first half. The Tigers outscored the Bulldogs 13-10 for the remainder of the first half and took a 33-22 lead into the halftime locker room.
The Bulldogs opened the second half with a 9-5 run over four minutes to reduce LSU?s lead to 38-31 with 15:48 left to go in the game. The Tigers, however, outscored the Bulldogs 30-21 for the remainder of the game and took the win 68-52.
Senior
Trey McDowell led the Bulldogs with 19 points. McKenzie finished with 12 points and seven boards, while Parker finished with 10, all in the first half. The Tigers were led by junior Glen Davis with 23 points and 14 rebounds, 12 of which came in the first half.
The Bulldogs will take the week off before returning to action Saturday, Dec. 30, in Fayetteville, Ark., to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Bud Walton Arena at 1:35 p.m.
